Dark, depressing, dangerous…Goth.
That may be a stereotype description of Goth but in essence it’s a lifestyle choice just like hip-hop, hippie, conservative, jock.  Hey, we know some very athletic Goths and a few square hippies. Our focus is on what a person has to offer not on their appearance.

Gothic One offers reviews of Gothic literature, art and entertainment, a resource of products for the modern Goth including clothing, jewelry and accessories plus an outlet for expression and insight into an ever growing subculture.

The Goth swish? We notice references to winter clothing styles featureing a Gothic look. One source stated "You can get dressed up in all those long, flowing clothes, and swish your way dramatically around town."

A spike in the eye for them.

Attire

Black, with black highlights and a touch of black for contrast. Oh, maybe a little red for an evening out.

Goth attire is characterized by Black on Black, long flowing garments and jewelry with various religious emblems. Piercing, tattooing, makeup and hair, often jet black and styled to round out the look.

Ah, but that's not the whole of it. Goth attire is stereotyped as dark and morbid but elements are far from it.

What to where with black?

Just kidding. We know there's more to Goth than black but it is the foundation of our wardrobe so we might as well focus first on things that go well with dark, and move on from there.

How about a choker, a ring and and something for the wrist.

In the beginning

Bela Lugosi's dead.

OK, Bauhaus wasn't the beginning of Gothic history but the were perhaps the catalyst of today's Goth culture.

There's more to it than even you may know. If you have something to ad let us know.

Art

The nature of Goth is exhibited better nowhere than in it's art. Designed to stir the inner mind, quicken the heart and turn heads in repulsion it draws eyes back for quick peeks and long entranced examination.

Layers of pain, hope and rebirth create intriguing images that linger in one's mind.

And there's some happy stuff too.

Music

An evolution of Punk in the late '70's, Goth Rock differentiated itself form itself with an infusion of dark culture influences. In the '80's the U.S. music moved from European positive punk, post-punk and American Death Rock. Today's old school Goths recognize Goth from it's industrial and heavy metal cousins. Most however, only hear disturbing noise.

Hey, who thinks a fat guy on stage yelling is entertaining?

Literature

Goth has deep roots from it's name to the music and especially it's literature. Mary Shelley, Bram Stocker, Ann Rice, and more gave us images of darkness that creep into our minds and rest in the shadows and enjoy nibbling and pricking at out thoughts.

Modern Gothic authors continue the tradition of horror, paranormal and supernatural subjects. Few meet the subtle terror presented by Edgar Allen Poe but then how many of us can actually master a master.
